SchoolItPropa (SIP) — School Enrollment Consent Clause

Draft language for Schools' enrollment/admission forms — for legal review

Last updated: [PLACEHOLDER]

DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW — NOT YET IN EFFECT. This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer qualified in Nigerian data protection and education law. It must not be published, distributed to users, or relied upon as a binding legal document until a qualified lawyer has reviewed and approved it, and all bracketed placeholders below have been completed.

Purpose of This Document

This clause is intended for Schools to insert into their own student enrollment/admission form, so that parental or guardian consent for SchoolItPropa ("SIP") processing is captured at the point of enrollment — before any student record, Computer-Based Test (CBT), or app account is created — rather than being sought later when the Student first uses a mobile app.

[PLACEHOLDER: this wording must be reviewed and approved by a lawyer qualified in Nigerian data protection law before any School uses it, to confirm it satisfies the NDPA/GAID parental consent requirement for children's data — see the open legal question flagged in the Privacy Policy, Section 6.]

Suggested Clause for the School's Enrollment Form

Insert into the enrollment/admission form, as a section requiring a separate signature or initial from the parent/guardian, distinct from the general admission signature:

Consent for Use of SchoolItPropa (SIP)

[School Name] uses SchoolItPropa ("SIP"), a school management platform, to record and manage student attendance, grades, examinations (including Computer-Based Tests), reports, and related academic and administrative information.

By signing below, I confirm that I am the parent or legal guardian of the student named on this form, and I give my consent for [School Name] and SIP to collect, store, and process my child's personal data for the following purposes:

  • Attendance, grades, examinations (including Computer-Based Tests), assignments, and academic reports.
  • Disciplinary and behavioral records maintained by the School.
  • Where I separately opt in below: my child's use of the SIP Student mobile application, including the Learning Centre (curated reading, images, videos, and educational content matched to my child's age and class), and my own use of the SIP Parent mobile application to view my child's records and respond to School reports.

I understand that:

  • SIP processes this data on the School's behalf and in accordance with the SIP Privacy Policy, which the School has made available to me at [PLACEHOLDER: link or location where the Privacy Policy is provided].
  • I may withdraw this consent at any time by notifying the School in writing, and doing so will stop further processing of my child's data for the affected purposes, though it will not undo processing that already occurred.
  • Withdrawing consent for the Student or Parent mobile applications does not affect the School's ability to maintain core academic and administrative records as otherwise required for my child's enrollment.

Separate Opt-In: Student and Parent Mobile Applications

☐ I consent to my child using the SIP Student mobile application, including the Learning Centre.

☐ I consent to using the SIP Parent mobile application myself, to view my child's records.

These are presented as separate, unticked checkboxes in the actual form — consent must be opt-in, not pre-selected, per NDPA/GAID consent requirements.

Instructions for the School

  • This section must be signed separately from (in addition to) the general enrollment agreement — it cannot be bundled into a single blanket signature covering unrelated matters, to keep consent specific per NDPA/GAID.
  • Retain the signed original (or a scanned copy) in the student's file, and record in SIP, at the point of registering the student, that this consent was obtained and its date — SIP's admin registration flow should require this before the student record is created.
  • For students already enrolled before this process was adopted, the School should run a consent drive: send this form home, collect signatures, and log them against each existing student record as soon as reasonably possible.
  • If a parent declines the Student/Parent mobile application opt-ins but consents to core academic record-keeping, the student can still be registered in SIP for core school administration — only the mobile app accounts should be withheld.
